Requirements National Swimming Diploma A

By obtaining the National Swimming Diploma A, your child shows that he has a basic fitness level and has mastered the basic skills to move and recreate safely in a swimming pool without attractions. Your child can survive if it falls into the water unexpectedly. Swimming Diploma A is the stepping stone to Swimming Diploma B and the complete Swimming ABC.

Skills
When obtaining the National Swimming Diploma A, your child shows that he or she:

  • after an unexpected fall into the water, can orientate himself with clothes on by treading water, swim a basic distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl) and climb out of the water on his own.
  • can enter the water in different ways, orientate themselves underwater and swim through something.
  • has a basic condition to cover a basic distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl).
  • can technically perform the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl) sufficiently to well over a basic distance.
  • can float on the stomach and on the back. Your child feels comfortable in the water.
  • can tread water with arms and legs, can turn and can orientate.

Clothing requirements for swimming diploma National Swimming diploma A

  • Swimwear
  • Shirt or blouse with long sleeves
  • Long pants (no leggings)
  • Shoes (leather and sports shoes are allowed; shoes without real soles or open water shoes are not allowed)

Requirements National Swimming Diploma B

By obtaining the National Swimming Diploma B, your child demonstrates that he is in good shape and that he has mastered the skills to move and recreate in a safe way in a swimming pool with attractions, such as a (whitewater) slide, a wave pool and a rapid. . Your child can orientate himself well above and under water. Swimming diploma B is the intermediate step to the complete Swimming ABC.

When obtaining the National Swimming Diploma B, your child shows that he or she:

  • clothed, after an unexpected fall into the water, orientate himself above water by treading water, swim a longer distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl), orientate himself underwater and can climb out of the water independently.
  • can dive from shore, orient under water, and swim through anything.
  • has a good condition to cover a longer distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl).
  • can technically perform the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl) sufficiently to well over a longer distance.
  • swim up to a floating object and float on it to rest and float on the back. Your child feels comfortable in the water.
  • can tread water with arms and legs and can move at the same time and that your child can lower itself to the bottom

Dress requirements for swimming diploma National Swimming diploma B

  • Swimwear

Requirements National Swimming Diploma C

By obtaining the National Swimming Diploma C, your child demonstrates that they are in very good shape and that they have mastered the skills to move and enjoy themselves safely in a swimming pool with attractions and in open water without currents or large waves, such as recreational lakes and wider ditches/canals (except in the sea). With the Swimming Diploma C, your child has met the National Swimming Safety Standard.

  • clothed, after an unexpected fall into the water, orientate himself above water by treading water, swim a long distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl), orientate himself underwater and can swim through something and climb out of the water on its own.
  • can dive from shore, orientate themselves underwater, swim through something underwater, and surface in a safe place.
  • has a very good condition to cover a long distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl).
  • can perform the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, single backstroke, front crawl, back crawl) technically well over a long distance.
  • can swim to a floating object with clothes on and float on it to rest and float on the back. Your child feels comfortable in the water.
  • can tread water with arms and legs and move at the same time and your child can switch to floating on the back to rest.
